Léognan, Bordeaux, France — February 1, 2022 — (POP CULTURE NEWSWIRE) — Château Malartic-Lagravière’s flagship wine joins a star-studded lineup in the all-new movie Death on the Nile, which hits theaters February 11, 2022, in the US. Malartic will be alongside world-class talent, in the latest big-screen Agatha Christie thriller.
“We are very proud to collaborate with Disney and 20th Century Studios to celebrate Death on the Nile, a production that brings grandeur back to the big screen, a timeless story set more than 80 years ago and yet still so modern,” said Véronique Bonnie, Malartic’s co-owner. “At Malartic, we too work tirelessly to honor the heritage of our estate, bringing emotions to our wine lovers and sharing our vision of excellence without compromise”, said Jean-Jacques Bonnie, co-owner too.
The Bonnie Family has a particular affinity with Death on the Nile because, like them, the main character, the famous detective Hercule Poirot is also Belgian. A signed, exceptional 6-liter bottle of Malartic (Imperial), engraved Death on the Nile, was sold at auction in November 2020 to benefit the Movember charity. Movember works for men’s health and its emblem recalls Poirot’s famous mustache.
Malartic made its first Hollywood appearance when it sponsored the American Cinematheque Awards in 2019 which honored Charlize Theron. They returned as the wine of the gala again this year at the awards honoring Scarlett Johansson in November. You can also catch Malartic in season 2 of Emily in Paris on December 22nd, as Emily continues her adventures in Paris and her love of all things ”French” including Malartic!
Last year, the chateauaired a 40-part YouTube series called le Grand Voyage, allowing a new and wider audience to discover all aspects of Bordeaux wines. The Bonnie family who has owned the estate for nearly 25 years have also created The Four Seasons of Malartic, a 100-page photo color book with 24 of their favorite recipes.
Château Malartic-Lagravière, located on the outskirts of Bordeaux, in the heart of the historic Bordeaux vineyards, is open for various workshops, tastings, and meals, but now everyone can revel in Malartic on the big screen, enjoying a glamorous, romantic and somewhat eventful trip on the Nile.
